TUC Diploma in contemporary trade unionism

(36 WEEKS)

1.30 - 7pm 

• Globalisation • Labour Movement History • Politics • Trade unions and the economy • Europe • Employment law • Conditions of service and industrial relations

The classroom sessions will run using workshops and student centred activities, familiar to you from other TUC courses. The development of study skills such as computer skills, carrying out research and essay writing will be focused on throughout the course.

The course may be used to gain access to Higher or Further Education diploma or degree course. We have links with local universities for this purpose, including a degree course run jointly with Middlesex University.

TUC Diploma in Employment Law

(36 WEEKS)

1.30 - 7pm 

This course will develop your understanding of current Employment Law and includes modules on:

Employment relations
Sex, race, disability discrimination
Work life balance/protecting workers
Representation and union recognition
Research, communication, problem solving
Project writing

The course may be used to gain access to Higher or Further Education diploma or degree course. We have links with local universities for this purpose, including a degree course run jointly with Middlesex University.

TUC Diploma in occupational health and safety

(36 WEEKS)

9.30 - 4.30

The course is aimed to help participants:

  • develop their knowledge of standards for occupational health and safety;
  • build health and safety organisation within the workplace;
  • tackle health, safety, welfare and environmental issues within the workplace;
  • undertake detailed project work;
  • develop key skills.

Union safety reps who wish to take this course should have:
previously attended the TUC Stage 1 and 2 Health and Safety Courses; or obtained a suitable equivalent to the two categories above, through their own union’s courses or from elsewhere.
